Hotel Review: Royal Kamuela – Ubud, Bali

Sometimes a couple of days in paradise is all you need ..

Last year I was lucky enough to spend Valentine’s Day in ultimate luxury at Royal Kamuela Ubud – Monkey Forest. Upon arrival at the property we were greeted with a cool towel and welcome drink (a Bali tradition) and were seated on the cosy couch while a staff member went through the check-in process, I couldn’t help constantly looking around in awe  – even the lobby was beautiful and was a perfect little peek at what would follow.

We were escorted through the lush tropical gardens to our villa and as we opened the door we were blown away by the attention to detail – our own little piece of paradise.

The villa was modern, but still had a Balinese feel. A huge king bed filled almost the entire bedroom and was as comfortable and soft as it looked, the doors opened up to an outdoor area with sunbeds, BBQ and pool. You can’t have a romantic getaway without a spa and Royal Kamuela had us covered with a big spa bath in the ensuite, perfect for two!

By far the best thing about this property were the floor to ceiling windows which allowed you to look out to the pool from bed creating a real sense of being in touch with nature. There was also a solid wall surrounding each villa site so privacy was not an issue.

We ordered room service for several meals to make the most of our accommodation, but also made time to venture to the monkey forest and other restaurants which were only a short walk away.

The accommodation was not cheap, but definitely worth it if you have the budget to splurge a little and would be an ideal option for a couple looking to escape the hustle and bustle of other busy Bali areas to enjoy some relaxing alone time.
