Hotel Review: The Phoenix Resort – Belize

A magical escape in the most beautiful location. Besides bringing a little tummy bug from Mexico along with me, my stay at The Phoenix Belize could not have been any more perfect!

Upon arriving at the luxury beachfront resort I received a very warm welcome and an icy cold, glass of rum punch – by this point I was already sold. I was then taken on a grand tour of the property which includes restaurant, bar, huge pool with pool bar and the most spectacular view over the crystal clear Belizian water.

I was lucky enough to stay in a beachfront 2 bedroom apartment which was fit for a king. I mean seriously, the suite was bigger than my house and decked out with every appliance I could think of – Bluetooth speaker, washing machine, blender, huge fridge, 3 x TVs, patio on the sand, 2 x bathrooms, spa bath, robes – it almost felt like a waste of space for little old me, but don’t you worry I made the most of it!!

The next few days were spent tanning by the pool sipping on banana daiquiris, taking advantage of the FREE happy hour each afternoon .. yes FREE and splurging on every meal the Red Ginger restaurant would deliver to my room. They also offered free bicycles for guests which is all you need to explore the little island .. it’s just a shame I can’t ride a bike (don’t judge me!!)

Just before my tour to Shark Ray Alley the bug from Mexico got me good. At this point I was on my death bed (OK that might be a slight exaggeration) and I thought I’d never pull through, until the staff The Phoenix went above and beyond to nurse me back to health. I honestly can’t thank the staff enough, every single person who worked there had a huge smile on their face and made my stay so enjoyable that I strongly considered never leaving.

The Phoenix would be the ideal  choice for any traveller heading to Ambergris Caye who’s looking for luxury, but still a home away from home – I can’t wait to go back!
